Middle School

Seventh Grade

Sometimes seventh grade gets a bad rap. Parents often consider this age and stage a parenting challenge and point to it as the nadir of their own grade school years. So it may come as a surprise that at ROBS, we love seventh graders. A wise middle school principal once said, “Children this age are old enough to be interesting and young enough to still be interested.”

On a daily basis, much is required of seventh graders at ROBS. They study many subjects and work hard at them. They are sons and daughters, brothers and sisters. They are athletes and artists. They are navigating the uncharted territory of adolescence. They are classmates and friends. Sometimes they strive to fulfill the expectations of others, even as they are coming to realize their own expectations matter more. They are part of God’s plan and doing God’s work. At ROBS, seventh graders have English and math classes differentiated on individual readiness and an expanding array of courses from which to choose. Students are asked to reflect on the “why” of current events and to listen without judgment to other people’s life experiences and points of view. For many students, seventh grade marks the end of being a child and the beginning of becoming their grown-up selves. We want to be alongside your child for this journey—because we love our seventh graders.
