Admission

The ROBS admission process is fashioned much like our learning program. We seek to identify the unique gifts of our applicants by getting to know each one through a developmentally appropriate process. The application steps therefore vary with each entry point. For example, applicants will participate in an interactive group activity that is typical of a ROBS learning experience at their grade level.

We value these opportunities to know each applicant family personally for several reasons. It sets the stage for a synchronous parent-school partnership, which we believe is fundamental to student success. It also gives our Admission Committee a holistic appreciation of each child applying to ROBS.

Why ROBS?

How to Apply

The first step of the admission process is the online application, which generates an account for your family in our admission database. Once an application is submitted, an admission checklist specific to your child will be created guiding you through the process. Additional admission requirements include:

  • Informational event attendance
  • Applicant assessment
  • Teacher recommendation
  • Entrance exam (grades K – 8)
  • School records (grades 2-8)
  • Parent interview (families new to ROBS)

In keeping with the ROBS Middle School trajectory, fifth grade is the most favorable entry year for applicants. We will enroll more than 10 new students in grades 5 & 6 for the 2021-22 school year as part of our strategic initiative to grow the school and decrease class size. Beyond sixth grade, openings will only be available through attrition.
