Discerning Truth-seekers
Data in the digital universe doubles every two years. With so much biased or unvetted information on the internet, how do we know what sources are reliable or what’s true? Digital literacy is a life skill.
Your child will learn to evaluate the credibility of a website using publisher, author, accuracy, and currency. Primary sources, some centuries old, will lend valuable perspectives to her understanding. She will dig into our library’s extensive collection of digital resources, books, and magazines. Year by year, your child will become a more proficient researcher: choosing a topic, doing exploratory reading, defining major points, identifying supportive and counter-supportive information, choosing the best product to display learning, presenting the research in an audience-effective manner, and debriefing the experience afterwards. It’s all part of the thoughtful process of learning how to learn.
