Celebrated Athletes
Participating in sports teaches kids so many important life skills like teamwork, perseverance, and communication. Students experience the direct connection between focused practice and improved results. Studies show that playing a sport even contributes to stronger academic performance. And of course, regular exercise translates into better physical and mental health.
At ROBS, we want every child to grow not only as a player, but also as a person. As part of the Houston Junior Preparatory Conference, seventh grade Raiders compete against other independent schools in basketball, cross-country, field hockey, football, golf, lacrosse, soccer, swimming, tennis, track and field, and volleyball. At least one participatory sport is offered each season so all students who wish to join a team may do so. Our skillful coaches motivate student-athletes to do their best on the court and field, while simultaneously cultivating respect for their teammates and their opponents. We want our students to play sports for fun. We also value the responsibility and understanding that come from relying on others, contributing to a team, and learning to win and lose with grace. By the time they leave, ROBS, eighth grade athletes are well-prepared to move into high school sports.
“The ROBS coaches, hand in hand with character education, have masterfully helped shape our boys into young men with solid skills and good and gritty hearts. These are qualities that will serve them well in high school and beyond. I could not be more proud or grateful! Our boys win at what really counts.”
