Celebrated Athletes
We want our students to play for fun. We also value the sense of responsibility and understanding that comes from relying on others, contributing to a team, and learning to win–and lose–with grace. Fifth graders compete regularly during gym class, where they are introduced to a wide range of individual and team sports.
The curriculum emphasizes strategy, skill-building, teamwork, and sportsmanship. When they move on to sixth grade, students are prepared to join ROBS teams that compete in basketball, cross-country, field hockey, football, lacrosse, soccer, swimming, track and field, and volleyball. Tennis and golf become available in seventh and eighth grade. At least one participatory sport is offered each season in grades 6-8 so any student who wishes to join a team may do so. We want every child to grow not only as a player, but also as a person. On the court, track, or field, we shape values that will forever help children lead healthier lives both physically and socially.
