Educators have long understood the benefits of teaching children a second language at an early age, but a 2018 study by MIT sheds new light on just how important that timing is. The research shows that to achieve the fluency level of a native speaker, children must start to learn a new language by the age of 10.
At ROBS, your Kindergartener will begin to form a solid foundation in Spanish her first week of school. Students look forward to Spanish lessons three times a week led by a dedicated Spanish teacher. Through playful activities and games, they learn key vocabulary and phrases as well as the cultural roots of the Spanish language. Your child will study three Hispanic influencers and their history, country of origin, and contributions to the world. Then the entire class will celebrate their newfound knowledge by performing traditional dances from each country. By year-end, your child will be able to describe herself in an interview with a peer. Just imagine your delight when your fearless five-year-old tries out her fledgling Spanish skills in her life beyond school.
