Empowered Samaritans

A deep dedication to service education is woven into the cultural fabric of our school. Grounded in Jesus’s commandment that we love our neighbors as ourselves, students at every grade level grasp the importance of making our community a better place. In fact, they are out there doing it.

For example, our seventh graders visit and volunteer at the Brookwood Community. In addition, two annual service opportunities unify the ROBS community, including All-School Day of Service on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

We spread our service projects across three strands—poverty, the environment, and service to those who serve us—so that when our students leave ROBS, they are mindful of some of the world’s most pressing challenges and eager to participate in addressing them.

Service Learning Mission Statement

The mission of Service Learning at ROBS is to advance the mission of the School through hands-on experiences that have a positive impact on our School, our city, and our world. We believe these experiences should (1) integrate academic concepts with hands-on service and reflection; (2) build relationships with people with varied life experiences; (3) explore students’ individual and collective ability to make a difference; (4) connect service with Jesus’ call to love and serve our neighbors; and (5) strengthen students’ character and commitment to a lifetime of service.
